dexter's laboratory the series involves a boy genius named dexter, who has a secret laboratoryDexter's Laboratory The series involves a boy genius named Dexter, who has a secret laboratory filled with highly advanced equipment, hidden behind a bookshelf in his bedroom. Access to this never-ending laboratory is achieved by saying various passwords or by activating hidden switches on the bookcase. Dexter is almost always in conflict with his obnoxious older sister, Dee Dee, who delights in playing in her brother's lab, often destroying his inventions and creations. Dexter has an arch-nemesis, a boy named Susan Astronominov, who goes by the considerably more sinister name of Mandark. Oftentimes Mandark, through fraud or (rarely) by coincidence, attempts to take credit for Dexter's achievements. Mandark is also "secretly" in love with Dee Dee. In the later seasons, after the revamp, Mandark becomes significantly more evil, his laboratory dark-looking and spiky (instead of the bright, cartoony lab featuring the Death Star from earlier seasons) and his plans more diabolical and nasty. The show's humor derives in part from Dexter's essentially one-sided and intense rivalry with his sister and from exaggerated stereotyping of his high intelligence and social awkwardness. Aflându-se pe un nesfârsit drum de tară, observă în oglinda retrovizoare, apropiindu-se, o camionetă veche, cu aspect înfiorător. Camioneta accelerează brusc, aruncându-i practic de pe sosea, si în timp ce trece pe lângă ei, Trish si Darry observă plăcuta veche de înmatriculare pe care scrie „BEATINGU”. Revenindu-si din sperietură, îsi amintesc de povestea lui Kenny si Darla, doi copii care dispăruseră pe această portiune de stradă cu peste 20 de ani în urmă. Pe măsură ce se deapănă povestea, aflăm că s-a găsit masina în care se aflau, dar ei niciodată... Continuându-si drumul, Trish si Darry se apropie de o biserică veche, al cărei acoperis este în mod ciudat acoperit de ciori. Acolo se află si camioneta. Văd ceva înalt, întunecat, aruncând într-un canal ceva învelit în ceea ce seamănă cu un cearsaf pătat de sânge. Înspăimântati, pornesc în trombă, rugându-se să nu fi fost văzuti. Privesc înapoi, doar pentru a vedea figura care s-a asezat brusc pe acoperis, asemenea unei uriase păsări de pradă. În următoarea clipă, creatura se află în camionetă, urmărindu-i îndeaproape. Accelerează, însă masina le iese de pe sosea, iar camioneta goneste mai departe, lăsându-i socati si fără suflare. Darry crede că ar trebui să se întoarcă la biserică, să vadă dacă nu cumva cineva are nevoie de ajutor. Darry este constient că nu este un film horror, ci se întâmplă cu adevărat, si stie că acesta este singurul lucru responsabil pe care îl pot face. În ciuda împotrivirii lui Trish se întorc, iar Darry se bagă în canal, în timp ce Trish îl tine de picioare si îsi blesteamă prostia. Deodată, Darry îi scapă din mâini si se prăbuseste într-o încăpere întunecată. Acolo se află într-adevăr cineva, abia răsuflând. Este un băiat cu o tăietură înspăimântătoare, cusută urât, de la buric până la gât. Darry priveste îngrozit cum băiatul se stinge sub ochii săi. Căutând cu disperare o iesire, Darry vede o usă pe care se află un semn desenat probabil cu oase umane, care spune „Acolo unde există un Iad, există si o cale”. Fără vreo altă alternativă, înaintează, având să descopere o scenă demnă de Infernul lui Dante – nenumărate trupuri mutilate, tintuite în perete, formând un fel de tapiterie terifiantă. Iar în mijlocul acestor trupuri se află si demult dispărutii Kenny si Darla. Si astfel începe o cursă terifiantă împotriva uneia dintre cele mai diabolice creaturi care au existat vreodată, o cursă care îi poartă pe Trish si Darry la o fermă izolată, unde locuieste o bătrână înconjurată de o multime de pisici (Eileen Brennan), pâna la clipa finală a adevărului, în fata unei sectii de politie. Pe măsură ce urmărirea se înteteste, Trish si Darry ajung să-si dea seama cu groază că această creatură vrea – are nevoie – de ceva de la unul dintre ei.
